Schools in India!!!

Recently I came to know the concept of code and codechef and I impressed with the idea and want to implement same in our area. So contacted the nearest school at my home. Below was the conversion between me and The principal.


Me: Do you have any programming sessions for 8th/9th/10th Standard students
Prin: No
Me: I would like to take the programming session for them if you allow.
Prin: What you will get from this? (దీని వలన మీకేమి వస్తుంది?)
Me: I don't get anything, but I want to help the stundents who becomes software engineers later
Prin: We don't have time, we are already filled with full day
Me: You no need to spend lot of time, just monthly once/twice is fine
Prin: We don't have that, but I will talk to the management and updates you.


Look at the response of the second question, how  I got the response from the principal. What you will get from this. May be he will not have time, but if some one come forward and try to help. He should encourage such people. But these schools are just concentrates on studying, studying and studying. And I am damn sure most of those students will become softeware engineers only.

P.S: Unfortunately my kid also studying(LKG) in the same school.

My Experience - As a polling agent (PA) for LokSatta Party(LSP)!!!

                 

                 I want to share my very good and brave experience as a polling agent(PA). I found there are two good useful and crucial things if any good polling agent presents at the polling station(PS).

1. Validating the person or elector by checking ID card and voter slip number
2. Avoiding Electoral fraud or vote rigging

                I reached by 6:40AM to the polling station, as election staff will give demo about EVM to polling agents to make sure that EVM's working fine. By the time I reached station, they already started Demo, and started conducting demo election and all PA's including me voted for respective parties and checked for the results to make sure that total polled votes and individual votes matched. After completing the demo they cleared all the data in the EVM and sealed the machine under the observation of PA's and made EVM ready for the real elections by 7:00AM.

                 In our PS, Congress, TRS, TDP, YSRCP and LSP(mine) PA's attended. All agents are from same area and they are good friends except me. In these Congress and TRS agents are very experienced ;-). They are doing their job (not PA's job) very nicely. They know who are coming to vote and whom they will vote and confirming voted for correct person or not by giving signals. 

                 As a PA, each one should have list of voters for that PS and election staff will announce each voter's voter number to make sure that voter was right one for that voter number, and agents need to check and confirm that. This one is very useful and we can avoid wrong person to vote. One case we found here, one person voted some where and came to our station to vote for another time, we found the ink mark on his finger and we were not allowed him to vote again.

                 Whole this process of validating the voter details continues until polling time which is 6:00PM. So PA need to stay from morning 6:30AM to evening 6:10PM to make sure that voting happening properly. I stayed whole time from 6:40AM to 6:20PM, other parties has relievers, PA's can go out by placing another person by taking permission from polling officer.

                 It went well till evening 5:00PM. By morning 7AM many voters came and stand in a big queue to vote until 12PM in the afternoon. After that slowly count reduced and there was no polling after 1:00PM. We thought that voter's may come in the evening as it was HOT out side in the afternoon due to summer. Unfortunately there was no polling in the evening in our PS. In PS, there are polling counters, in which our counter has more voters (1586) in that only 762 voters are polled which less than 50% and which was highest %  at our PS counters.

                 Before election day, our LSP Team has given instructions to all PA agents that, between 3:00PM and 6:00PM there is a chance of rigging. LSP team instructed as a PA we should be very careful about that and if there is a chance of rigging please come out of the station and call to police or LSP team. 

                 Here comes the interesting part.  After 5:00PM congress PA went out and called me for chatting. I just went to meet him as we both became friends. He asked me to help for rigging. By that time only 751 votes were polled out of 1586.  Below was the conversation.

PA: I want to talk to you

Me: Regarding what?

PA: Polling was very low, votes will be wasted

Me: What we need to do?

PA: If you co-operate,we will use those votes, everyone was ready except you!!!

Me: No.

PA: Why to waste votes, we if you co-operate, we will use them.

Me: I Said again no and went inside polling counter. and I never look at him ;-)

And it was tense time until polling time completes. If I agree or If I was not there, they might have used around 100 votes among them each by ~25 votes. Due to me, it was not happened. 100 or 50 votes may looks small in single counter, but each Constitution may have around 200 - 400 counters. It matters a lot for Constitution. 

My Suggestions to All:

• Try to attend as a polling agent if you have time or ask your friends or relatives
• Try to vote. if you are not using your vote some other polling agent will use your vote.

Polling agents are very very crucial to make polling in proper way. We are thinking that what is the problem if I wont vote. I have answer for that, Some polling agent will use your vote. Actually you are not only wasting your vote, you are also giving a chance for rigging because if you have not voted,  agent has all the details of who voted , who are not voted,  they will use these details for rigging.

Please go and vote for whom you think, he will work for society. Not vote for whom you like!!!

How to get passport?

Below is the procedure to follow for the new passport and What I followed and when I got the passport.

Passport procedure:

• Apply online here
• get the print out
• take the address proof, id proof, DOB proof originals with one xerox copy set
• Attend with the above documents at specified office
• you will get address verification call within 10 days
• You will receive passport with in 45 days.

Procedure I followed:

• Applied online on 15th Dec'12 and got the appointment on 18th Dec'12 @11AM
• With Documents went to into the office @10:45 on 18th Dec'12
• Address Proof: HDFC bank statement nearly for one year and covering letter from the bank
• ID Proof: Pan card
• DOB Proof: SSC certificate
• Marriage certificate if married (Take notary if the certificate is not available)
• Got the verification call on 23rd Dec'12 and police came for the verification on the same day @8PM
• Got the confirmation SMS on 18th Jan'13 around @10:00PM as "Your passport has been dispatched through speedpost"
• Got the Passport on 19th Jan'13 around @11:45AM;

After entering into the office, there are actually 5 stages. I attended in Hyderabad @Ameerpet branch.
So below are the stages in Ameerpet branch;

Stage 1: Need to wait in the queue for our turn.(Actually queue looks very big, but it will be cleared very quickly when your allocated time reaches)
Stage 2: Initial verification of the documents, here they will verify and says your documents are valid or not. If This verification is cleared, They will give you the token/coupon(coupon starts with A, which means A counters). your proofs are valid and there wont be any issues for you to submit the passport application form.
Stage 3:  In this stage you need to go to the any available A counters. Here they verify the docs and takes a photo with digital camera and 1500/- rupees for the passport fees. This Photo will come on passport. So better go with neat face or make-up
Stage 4: B counter for just verification of documents
Stage 5: C counter is again for verification of documents and that's it. Don't forget to take the acknowledgement while leaving.

Here you can track your passport status by giving file number(which will be there in your passport acknowledgement) and DOB.

I got the new passport with in 30days. General it will be with in 45 days.

How to get NOC for two wheeler

I planned to move to Hyderabad from Chennai. I have two wheeler, for that I need NOC for moving inter-State. Getting NOC is very easy(if you follow below steps). After getting NOC, we need to get the clearance certificate from RTO office. Below is the process.

For Getting NOC:

1. Take the xerox copies of RC, Driving license, Insurance.
2. Go to Crime Burau office (In chennai Chinthadri pet Police station)
3. Submit your application with xerox copies. (we need to pay Rs 20/- only for application nothing else)
4. And thats it ,They will give you the NOC next day.

After Getting NOC, we need to submit this NOC original along with Form28 to RTO Office. Below are the steps we need to follow at RTO office.

 Getting NOC from RTO:

1. Get the Form28 from any RTO agent (I got from agent only :-)).
2. Attach xerox copy of insurance , pollution certificate, and original RC.
3. Go to PA to RTO officer in the RTO office.
4. After getting the sign from RTO officer, just pay Rs 50/- and submit the application form there in RTO office.
5. They will ask you to collect the Certificate after 3-5 days.

You will get the NOC from RTO office after one week.

P.S: Because of mistake I got NOC late by almost one month.

Amazon Interview experience!!!

On October 5th 2012, first round of Telephone they schedule. And their tracking was very good. I got the call on time. And below are the questions I faced during my ~40 Min's interview.

1. Introduce yourself
2. Arrange the linked list in such a way that all odd numbers should come first and even numbers last (don't copy the elements, rearrange the nodes). Click here for the C Implementation.
3. Find the least common ancestor of a given element in the binary search tree.
Initially they asked the explanation, then they asked to write the code and then asked to mail that code to them.

And the Interview went well, I got the call for the second round of interview for F2F.

On October 13th 2012, they scheduled an interview for the second round.
I reached the venue on time , they called me after 20mins.
When I entered into the interview room, interviewer told me that, we are having 1hr time, we try to solve two problems, if the time is more, we will try to do more questions. And during that 1hr interview, I did only two questions. These are the questions which I faced

1. Create a single linked list in such a way that we can able to traverse backwards also. (This is not a reversing linked list) :
         I told the way doing this, But I could not found the logic for that, he asked the logic, this question took more time to me to solve.

2. find the nearest value of a given element in a binary search tree:
        I told the logic and concept for this question and he asked me write the complete code, I wrote the code and unfortunately I missed on condition check, but he asked that condition only ;-)

Interview went well, and I am waiting for the next round call(not sure whether it was cleared or not ;-)).
